The passing of Frido Troost
Tuesday, 23 April 2013 14:34

Dear friends, customers,

It is with deep regret we'd like to inform you that our friend, father and the founder of the ICM, Frido Troost has passed away yesterday after suffering from cancer for several months. He spent his last days in his own characteristic manner
and surrounded by family and friends. We are grateful for his friendship and the way he could comfort us, even in his last moments.

He will be deeply missed.

The future of the ICM is still rather uncertain, but it will be closed for the forseeable future.

- Gilles Krantz & Marius Troost

Website Maintenance
Thursday, 03 January 2013 11:06

Dear customers,

As you might have noticed, the website hadn't been working properly for some time. This was due to a recent spam attack, after which we decided to do extensive maintenance on the site. Right now it should be stable again, though some functions are not working perfectly yet. This will be fixed as soon as possible. One thing we were forced to do, however, was to reset the User database, so you will find that your user account has disappeared. If you'd like, you could re-register again from now.

Enjoy browsing the site again and we'd like to wish you a (somewhat belated) happy new year!

Unter dem Baum 4
Saturday, 01 December 2012 14:31

Next week, the opening to the fourth exposition in our 'Unter dem Baum' series will take place!

«UNTER DEM BAUM 4»

Terribly_Awesome_photobooks_print_Page_01

Paul Kooiker & Erik Kessels

Opening: friday December 7th, 18:00

Open until January 12th

As well as being a vintage photo gallery, this year ICM will function as an exhibition space for modern artists or photographers too. Named 'Unter dem Baum' we're hosting a series of exhibitions for which artists are invited to put together a show, consisting of both their own, recent work and pieces from the ICM collection. Paul Kooiker and Erik Kessels will be our next guests:

For several years, Paul Kooiker and Erik Kessels have organized evenings for friends in which they share the strangest photo books in their collections. The books shown are rarely available in regular shops, but are picked up from thrift stores and antiquaries. The group's fascination for these pictorial non-fiction books comes from the need to find images that exist on the fringe of regular commercial photo books. It is only in this area that it is possible to find images with an uncontrived quality. What's noticeable from these publications is that there's a thin line between being terrible and being awesome. This constant tension makes the books interesting. It is also worth noting that these tomes all fall within certain categories: the medical, instructional, scientific, sex, humour or propaganda.

For the exhibition and brand new publication Terribly awesome photobooks, Paul Kooiker and Erik Kessels have made a selection of their finest books from within this questionable new genre. During the exhibition Kooikers' installation 'Room Service' will be at show as well.
